Reliable Roadworthy & Registration Inspections
Vehicle inspections are a key part of keeping the roads safe—not just for you, but for everyone else out there too. In New South Wales, most vehicles over five years old require an annual safety check (commonly known as a pink slip) before you can renew your registration. This inspection includes checks on your brakes, tyres, suspension, steering, lights, seatbelts, windscreen and general vehicle condition. At Coasteer Automotive, we’re licensed to carry out these inspections and issue an e-safety certificate if your vehicle passes.

If repairs are needed, you’ll have 14 days to fix the issues and return for a free reinspection. Our team also handles inspections for unregistered vehicles, vehicles being transferred or sold, and other conditional checks. We make sure every inspection is completed properly, so you can hit the road legally and safely.

FAQ
What is a pink slip inspection in NSW?
A pink slip, also called an e-safety check, is a compulsory annual inspection for vehicles more than five years old in New South Wales. It confirms that your vehicle is safe to be driven on the road and is required before you can renew your registration. The inspection checks key safety systems like brakes, tyres, suspension, steering, lights and seatbelts. If the vehicle passes, the results are sent electronically to Transport for NSW.
How long does a vehicle inspection take?
A standard safety inspection usually takes between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on the condition of the vehicle. If your car is in good shape and no repairs are needed, the process is quick. If issues are found, the mechanic will let you know what needs to be fixed before the inspection can be passed.
What happens if my car fails the inspection?
If your car doesn’t meet the safety requirements, we will provide a quote to rectify the issues and can have the work completed in a timely fashion. You then have 14 days to carry out those repairs and return to the same inspection station for a free re-check. If you wait longer than 14 days, a new inspection and fee will be required.
